Sustainability & Heritage Policy

Our Commitment

At Olivia Buckley International, sustainability and heritage are closely connected. As a luxury wedding planner and event firm producing destination weddings, corporate events and private celebrations throughout Ireland, we recognise the responsibility that comes with working in some of the country’s most significant estates, castles, historic properties and landscapes.

Our approach extends beyond environmental considerations. It encompasses the protection of Ireland’s cultural heritage, the support of local communities and businesses, and the responsible production of events that contribute positively to the destinations in which they take place.

We believe exceptional events should not only celebrate a moment in time, but also respect and support the places that make those celebrations possible.

Supporting Irish Businesses & Communities

Supporting Irish businesses is a fundamental part of how Olivia Buckley International operates. We prioritise Irish-owned suppliers, venues and service partners, with more than 80% of our on-site vendors based in Ireland. Through our events, we actively support local employment, regional economies and independent businesses across the country.

Our network includes Irish musicians, entertainers, artisans, food producers, craftspeople, guides and specialist hospitality professionals whose expertise contributes to the authenticity and quality of every event.

By investing in local talent and businesses, we help ensure that the economic benefits of tourism and event production remain within the communities where our events take place.

Protecting Ireland's Heritage & Culture

Ireland’s heritage is one of its greatest assets. From historic castles and estates to regional traditions, music, storytelling and craftsmanship, these elements form an important part of the experiences we create.

We seek to showcase the unique character of Ireland through authentic experiences that are rooted in place rather than concepts that could be replicated anywhere in the world.

Whether introducing international guests to traditional Irish music, local food traditions, historic properties or regional customs, we believe meaningful engagement with Irish culture creates deeper and more memorable experiences while helping to preserve and celebrate these traditions for future generations.

Considered Event Production

Responsible event production is considered throughout the planning and delivery of our events.

We encourage the use of seasonal Irish produce and work with venues and catering partners who prioritise local sourcing and responsible procurement practices. Sustainability credentials and operational practices are considered when evaluating venues and vendors.

Where practical, we favour hired furnishings and décor over new purchases, seek to minimise single-use decorative items and work with production partners whose practices support waste reduction, recycling and composting initiatives.

Our objective is to deliver events of the highest standard while making considered decisions about the resources required to produce them.

Transport & Logistics

Transport and logistics play an important role in both guest experience and sustainability.

Where appropriate, we encourage shared transportation through luxury coaches, shuttle services and coordinated guest transfers. These arrangements often improve operational efficiency while reducing unnecessary vehicle movements.

Our team seeks to travel together wherever practical and we prioritise Irish-based suppliers whenever possible, reducing transportation requirements while supporting local businesses and expertise.

Responsible Business Practices

Within our day-to-day operations, Olivia Buckley International adopts a digital-first approach.

Electronic proposals, contracts and planning documentation help reduce paper consumption, while virtual meetings are utilised where appropriate to reduce unnecessary travel. Flexible and remote working practices further support this approach.

We encourage responsible waste management, recycling and resource efficiency across our office operations and continually review opportunities to improve our internal practices.

Continuous Improvement

Sustainability and heritage stewardship require ongoing commitment.

As our business evolves, we will continue to review our operations, supplier partnerships and event production practices to identify opportunities for improvement. We seek to work alongside venues and suppliers who share similar values and are committed to responsible business practices.

Through considered planning, responsible decision-making and a continued investment in Ireland’s people, places and traditions, Olivia Buckley International aims to contribute positively to the future of Ireland’s hospitality, tourism and events industries.

Stewardship of Heritage Properties

Ireland’s historic castles, estates, manor houses and heritage properties form an important part of the country’s cultural legacy. As planners working within many of these exceptional venues, Olivia Buckley International recognises the responsibility that comes with their use and preservation.

We are committed to producing events that respect the character, history and significance of the properties entrusted to us. Through close collaboration with venue teams and specialist suppliers, we seek to ensure that event production is undertaken thoughtfully and with consideration for the long-term preservation of these spaces.
